Our hotel is Halomy Hotel – Sharm el Sheikh

We like to do few excursions

such as going to cairo, quad biking, visiting Moses mountain, glass boat diving, camel ride with bedouin tea, cloured canyon

would it be better and cheaper to book them with the hotel or would it be cheaper to book them directly with the tour guide companies online?

it is best too book it at the hotel.. as Most well known hotel have some sort of excursion rep visiting pretty much all day… as the price will be to their currencies and there will be no middle man to pay. it also be cheaper to do so.. Trust me I know these things..
for example if u book the trips with expedia they’re reletively expensive as they use someone else for their trips.. so why not book it directly with the people…

Some excursions from what you mentioned are not really as it sounds. I suggest you to let (glass boat, bedouin tea) to later. Colored canyon – Moses mountain – overday Cairo are better excursions.
Check prices on line or with your travel agency then it can be easier to tell you. The best is to book it through your travel agency if you are dealing with a good one.

I suggest to book directly with the help of your receptionist.
because in the first place they sell these excursion which are really doing well (because selling excursions which as just so-and-so they would always have quarreling clients and no hotel wants that) and it is indeed cheaper, because buying from the agency /online or offline there are many more commissions to be paid.
And also if you buy at the reception the receptionist will have a little commission and as a person who worked in reception as well I can assure you that it is very welcomed.

Tourist tours are never cheap. There are usually bucket shops when you arrive at resorts and tour touts who will offer you ‘good deals’. Taxi drivers who hire themselves for the day. Take advice from other travellers when you get there on how to get local bargains

Your tour company will have a selection of trips but you can pay more for the exact same trip as you would from a local shop, and may even be on the same trip with the same guides.

The advantage of booking and paying for tours in the UK with your travel agent etc means that if something goes terribly, horribly wrong. Suing will be subject to UK laws and you will probably get better compensation than you would suing through an Egyptian court which is what you have to do if you booked your trip there.

Make sure that your holiday insurance covers you for diving, quad biking and so on. Not all do, you may need to get extra cover.

you will easily be able to compare prices when you arrive in sharm. Go down to Naarma bay and you will find many operators simply begging to book excursions with you….. and they will be cheaper than the tour comapnies. BUT you need to check very carefully what you get, while a local option maybe cheaper often there is not always such a good package.
However regarding the above excusions, a trip to cairo is a fabulous experience, though by road it is very long way on a cramped bus or with a crazy taxi driver and will take about 4 hours there and 4 hours back. Flying is the best option as it only takes about 45mins, you then take a taxi or bus to the pyramids and finally to the museum.Doing this independantly will probably save you money, but it depends on your confidence to arrange a taxi on your arrival, it is not difficult but do read up before hand on opening hours costs etc so you know exactly what you want and where and when you need to be at each destination. The other risk is that there will/will not be seats on the flights you want. this is the option that may be worth booking before you go.
Local trips are also easy to arrange on arrival, the trip to the moses mountain takes place very early in the monring, i chickened out on this one so i cant tell you if its worth it. The glass bottom boat ride is in my opinion essential if you do not intend to dive or snorkel, but if you intend to dive or snorkel then i guess you will see more in the water. The remaining trips can also be booked locally but take care with things like camel riding and quad biking, there may be no insurance and your own insurance may not cover you for this trip. have fun
