it wouldnt be too expensive if you make your reservation right away.
go to Sharm or Hurghada .
spend a vaccation there , then go to Cairo .for some days to see the monuments and the Nile.
you wont pay too much .
    have a nice trip.

Hotels would be fully booked and extremely expensive over Christmas
Search the net for condos , apartments instead … maybe you didn’t think about this before but it is very clean , safe and extremely less in rate
I can help with Cairo as i have apartments here but try to find in Sharm or Hurghada …
This is how you can squeeze your expenses
And depend on ur dates , you can join one of our trips around Cairo , Giza and overday trips to Alexandria
And if interested , i have a friend in a travel / tours agency , they prepare multiple programs to desert / Oasis

Taba Heights with Thomson. The trip to Cairo is extra and you can go for one day for about £90 each or I’d recommend you go on the 2 day trip for £130 per person.
