hard to answer this cuz terrorists never tell where and when they will bomb, but they don’t attack all the time still,
also avoid getting on road a lot cuz road accidents is very common here.

Personaly I think Cairo is very safe, especially if you have a foriegn passport such as usa.
Egypt has a special department in the police force called tourist police…which main responsibility is to protect you.

    But here’s the thing…

When you are in ANY foriegn country you must respect the culture and customs.
For example if a woman comes here and dresses herself as almost naked she will have problems, or if a man comes here and gets completely drunk in the street he might have problems….unless of course you are in Sharm el Sheikh where all of this is normal.

Just use common sense and it would be a nice trip and a memorable adventure.

Wait.. Let me ask my mummy..

Come on man, who can say that.. Still take full info regarding the place you are travelling to.. If you are going there for the first time and worrying about safety then get a packaged tour or go in a travel group.. Have backup plans for the "what if’s".. It’s cool to relax.. Literally..

By the way Egypt is one of the most safest place to travel to in Africa.. Just dont panic when u see bandages.. And send me a postcard from there..

I’m female, I went there alone, and was completely safe, even on a main street in Cairo at 1am. Would I do that in Los Angeles, where I’m from? Noooo waaaaaayyy, not unless I’ve gone mad!

Yes, there are tourist police, and they’re there specifically to protect tourists.

It’s safe. Trust me on this.

Yes, it is safe generally speaking. But just like anywhere you may travel or go in your own town, you need to travel smart. Make sure you stay on the paths with your guides, and be wary of ice cubes (local water is not good for foreigners!). Also, don’t display your money, and make sure when you buy goods that you show the merchant your money and ask for change BEFORE you give him your money.
