    Many of the tombs did.

    The Great Pyramid has three chambers in it, plus descending, and ascending tunnels. There’s even a twisting tunnel carved between the two. (To rescue trapped workers? An escape once the chambers were sealed?) The simplest explanation for this is that these represent design changes made over the 20 years(?) of construction. As example the lowest chamber was never finished.

    Tomb robbing appears to have been a major industry. The priests that supposedly protected the tombs were involved and quite possibly the rulers plundered tombs to obtain riches for their own burials.
