Egypt is a huge place and it depends on how much time you have and how much you want to see.
but if you have the time you could start in cairo and see the things already mentioned above and i would add to that the khan el khalili its a medieval shopping area.
then go to luxor and either stay in luxor and see all the many things in luxor which can easily keep you busy every day for a week or take a nile cruise from luxor to aswan, which will allow you to see some of the temples further up the nile and also abu simble. but you will see less of luxor of course. Cruising up the Nile is a wonderful experience. but so is staying in luxor and seeing the less touristy things, like the valley of the nobles. finally there is the red sea and the amazing diving there. i say finally but in fact there are many other less well known places too such as the oases and other sites along the nile between cairo and luxor as well as temples on Lake Nasser. The truth is there are far too many things in egypt to see in 10 holidays never mind one, have a wonderful time.

See Cairo, take a cruise on the Nile. Add-ons that are worth it are Abu Simbel to see the amazing temple of Ramses II. I also took a side trip to Abydos, a less touristy site, but amazingly well preserved.
Would highly suggest you go through a travel agent. Find out how many people are on the tours (you can’t really see the sights on your own) i.e guide:tourists ratio.
I searched through a lot of agents, and eventually found IExplore in Chicago. They actually book through Abercrombie and Kent which is a very good British Travel Agency.
Would suggest you get Lonely Planet Egypt.
    Good Luck!

do you mean a tour group?

I went with Contiki (www.contiki.com) and had a blast. My sister in law went with Trafalgar and loved it but it was an older crowd.
