The cheapest way to book a holiday in Egypt is by calling a tour guide directly without a company, because the company takes its profit and after that gives the guide his salary, by this way you can avoid the company profit …. here we have a group of tour guides give you what you want you pay for the cost, and give the guide his fee, it gives you more freedom and flexibility too….

hi tris, I’m sorry for saying this because your wanting to go there on holiday but see Egyptian tour guides they are the worst bloody money grabbing untrustworthy people I have even had the misfortune to meet.. go to Jordan instead.

Let me just say though that if it’s a package Sham El Sheik type holiday your looking for were you sit at the pool all day with Germans then thats a bit different. If thats the holiday you want then ok Sham El Sheik is a good holiday, but if you prefer to see the sites and your a bit of culture vulture then Jordan is far better than Egypt… far far better.

Edit: I have just realised I have posted this in the Egypt bit and I might have just insulted a whole load of people. Let me add that it was Cario I was at… so really I’m mostly talking about the Egyptian tour guides and their associations in Cario.

Everyday people, like the taxi driver I met, was actually a lovely funny guy and the receptionist at the hotel was lovely too. So there are nice egyptians in Cario it’s just feels like a lot more horrible money grabbinf ones. Hope I explained myself there better and nobody takes great offence.

depends what you want. If you want to go to the Red sea which is primarily a diving and beach holiday and little else then i would suggest one of the smaller resorts that is not sharm. Sharm is very expensive compared to other red sea resorts. However as i have not been to other resorts on the red sea except Sharm i cannot speak with authority. However Luxor can be very reasonable and a fascinating place to visit. There are a number of cheaper hotels look around. Cairo like all capital cities is very big busy and not cheap; aswan is lovely and also quite reasonable.
