I am after a holiday in Egypt which is not a strict tour of the ancient sites only thing, I want a bit of variety and fun and we dont like being restricted to a strict rush through everything timetable…what companies would you recommend?

Who would you recommend for a holiday to Egypt?

You go to a travel agent in your area and they relay the services to another local travel agent in Egypt. I recommend at least one day in cairo for the museum and the pyramids, then 4 days cruise in the nile between luxor and Aswan. then the Red sea, sharm el sheikh or Hurghada. sharm is really nice.

I went to Egypt a few years ago, I did 4 days in Cairo seeing the Pyramids and stuff (if your going to Egypt you HAVE to see them really, it would be wrong not to) and then 7 days in Luxor relaxing and chilling and having fun by the Nile. It was really good there, I’d recommend it to anyone. Not wanting to spend all your time seeing sites is totally fair enough but if you do go to Luxor please try and see the Temple at Karnak, it took my breath away more than the Pyramids did!!

I’ve heard that the Red Sea area is also fab for water sports and relaxing if that’s your thing.

I went with Thomas Cook signature, you build your own Holiday and get private transfers and stuff, they were really good. Good luck and have great time if you go.

well you could do it yourself so to speak, its cheaper and quite simple. book a basic package and then arrange your site seeing your self when you arrive. local taxis are cheap to hire for the day. if you staying in Cairo or luxor just tell them where you want to be arrange when you want collecting and they will either take you there and wait for you or come back as arranged. Most of them have mobiles so its also simple to call them up with a missed call when you want collecting if your not sure how long you will be they will often be able to advise you. they take tourists all the time. if you want more ideas or advice then e mail me. i have been there many times and know the tourist areas quite well.
as for who to go with, for a taylor made try kuoni. for cheap try panorama, thomas cook, portland direct, kuoni and cosmos. in fact just shop around.

I agree with Pinky, i went on Thomas Cook tour’s 3 times some yrs ago & they were just wonderful. They really look after you & everything is first class, transfers, ships, hotels, & services.
You can tailor make the tour you want, but i do recomend a cruise on the Nile, so peaceful.
    Have a fab joliday.
